What About Our Daughters is Outraged Over Horrific Rape

Posted by bronzetrinity on August 5, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Austin, TX – August, 5 2007- Fresh off a battle with Black Entertainment Television, Gina McCauley isn’t slowing down on her blog, What About Our Daughters? McCauley is outraged over Al Sharpton’s planned ” Day of Outrage” scheduled for August 7, 2007, also sponsored by the BloggingWhileBrown Blog. Her next targets are Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the NAACP and other African American elites who have been noticeably silent about what may be one of the most horrific crimes committed against a Black woman in recent history, she’s talking about the June 18th gang rape of a 35-year- old woman that took place in Dunbar Village, a housing project in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The woman was raped repeatedly for over three hours by at least ten African American youths, while they brutally beat her son. Eventually the woman and son were forced to lie naked together in their bathtub and the woman was forced under gunpoint to perform oral sex on her 12-year-old son before the attackers poured cleaning solution on them, burning the mother’s skin and blinding her son. Not a single neighbor called the police and the woman and her son were forced to walk alone to a hospital. Only three of the alleged attackers have been arrested and residents of Dunbar Village aren’t talking to police.

McCauley is angry about a lack of public outrage from many of the people who were so swift to inject themselves into the Duke rape case a little over a year ago.

” Jesse Jackson and Rainbow PUSH rushed to issue press releases announcing that they were going to give a college scholarship to the Duke rape accuser .” McCauley said, referring to Jackson’s offer to the Duke rape accuser.

In an interview with the Associated Press on June 15, 2006 Jackson indicated that he was anxious to get in contact with the Duke rape accuser. “”I can’t wait … to talk with her and have prayer with her, because our organization is committed, when she’s physically and emotionally able … to provide for her the scholarship money to finish school so she will never … again have to stoop that low to survive,” Jackson said from Chicago in a telephone interview with The Associated Press at the time. Jackson has issued no such statements in the case of the Dunbar Village rape victim. His silence and the silence of others is damning to McCauley.

” Where is his press release offering a scholarship to this woman? Where is the announcement of how much Rainbow Push has donated to this poor woman and her child? Where is his offer to go down to Florida and have prayer with this woman?”

McCauley goes on to criticize the NAACP for holding a press conference of support for Michael Vick, but not doing the same for the West Palm Beach victim. ” I mean Michael Vick is a multimillionaire who is more than capable of defending himself, who is looking out for this poor Black woman in Florida trying to eek out a living selling Avon and delivering telephone books?”

When McCauley heard about Sharpton’s “Day of Outrage,” she decided to wade into controversy again by pointing out what she thinks is a moral inconsistency within the African American community.

” Here we have Sharpton initiating a self-promoting publicity blitz announcing a national day of outrage about rap lyrics which denigrate Black women, but I am not aware of a single e-mail from the National Action Network speaking out about this brutal attack, asking the residents of Dunbar Village to start cooperating with police, or encouraging people to help this woman and her child.”

McCauley hopes that by targeting Sharpton, Jackson and other African American leaders on her blog, she can produce some off line results. ” I notice that on his tour he plans a stop in Miami. That is not far from West Palm Beach. I wonder if he is going to pass the collection plate to contribute to this woman’s victim’s assistance fund?”

A victim’s assistance fund has been set up for the West Palm beach woman and her child through Saint Ann’s Church in West Palm Beach, FL. Checks can be made payable to the Dunbar Village Victim Assistance Fund-St. Ann. They can be dropped off at any Wachovia branch or mailed to: St. Ann Catholic Church, 310 N. Olive Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33401. The church’s phone number is (561) 832-3757.

Sincerely,
Gina

Thanks for putting it up there.

  2. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. So wait, let me get this straight:

Black women are now mad because these two leaders (who are always the named defendants; the catch all suffic of “and all black leaders” or “the rest of the black elite” does not hide this intention) – but because Al and Jesse didn’t run to little haiti to this woman’s aid, somehow they are subpar leaders, or they are hypocrites, or they are inconsistent. That’s great, that’s real great. This is why we don’t hve more leaders in the Black Community willing to step up; it’s because of ungrateful lazy accusatory people both inside and outside the black community jumping on them like subpar rappers jumping on the hot new flavor of the month with diss tracks.

We wanted them to be more vocal against black rappers after the Imus thing and they did that. They came to the aid of the Duke Rape Accuser (and we ALL were on that bandwagon, stop fronting now like it was just Al; if you or I had a microphone, we’d have been talkin’ junk on a national stage too…), they help to deal with the situation in New Orleans, and since they didn’t jump on THIS crisis (which is NOT the most heinous crime against a black woman in history, let’s back down from that out of respect to all the rape victims out there who went through hell or were killed in the process) but because they didn’t DIVE onto this issue, something is wrong, huh?

Well, what if they had? Then, it would have just been some OTHER problem complaining whining never-satisfied negroes and white nationalist would have had with them. Then, the White Nationalists would have jumped on the Black Wonder Twins (since everyone thinks they have super powers) for not going after whatever white woman was raped this week and called a “race baiter”. Black people that are entirely too full of themselves would have found some OTHER crisis that they didn’t jump on and would have said “Yeah, well…why didn’t they deal with x,y and z??!?”

What you want them to do, UNrape these two? Give THEM money? Because apparently, we think they have more money than Jay and P Diddy combined. Why is no one going after THOSE half-billionaires? They have the means to help financially. No one’s asking THEM. Where’s Russell Simmons and the Hip Hop Summit? Where are Kanye and Common with some sort of campaign on their behalf? For the love of God! Won’t someone call Wyclef Jean!!!!

No, for some reason, we feel we must jump on Al and Jesse for this problem too. We need to stop looking for the next Martin and whining when they fall short, and try instead to BECOME the next Martin and do what WE can. How bout YOU start a non-profit to help that woman and child. Contact Al and Jesse, see if they don’t want to jump on board with what YOU have ALREADY put in place that shows you’ll put your money where your complaints are leaking from.

mark bey: Black Sultan I agree with parts of your sentiment about people just laying around and criticizing others while doing nothing. However What about our Daughters (Gina) is not just lazing or sitting around. In fact here is her website were you can read about, some of her battles she has waged in this struggle for black dignity and freedom. She is doing a power job of advocating and fighting for the dignity of black women who in my opinion are getting a raw deal from all sides in way too many cases.

Also although I support Al and Jesse on some things and I would even work with them on others I still consider the both of them to be clowns. All slick talking preachers are clowns. All preachers who dress in pimps suits and make babies outside of marraige are clowns. A preacher who runs for president and then shows up at a nationally televised debate “late” is a clown especailly considering the reputation we have as a people of bieng late and sloppy.

Most overly cool and flashy preachers are clowns in my opinion. Also they are money chasing opurtunis I dont how loud they advocate they are in it to line their pockets as well.

Lastly Gina is absolutely right if Jesse and Al can get in Imuses and Michael Richards shit. Then they can take their fake preacher behinds down to Dunbar village and put pressure on the residents who are allowing those animals who forced a mother to performed oral sex on her child to come forward and get those animals off of the streets before they hurt anyone else.

So I seperate the preahers from the activist they mean nothing to me as it relates to spiritual matters in fact they are jokes as far as Im concerned. But I support them whenever they advocate properly on the behalf of black people, the Naacp advocating for Michael Vick and not at the residents of Dunbar Village to come forward and get those animals of the street is a form of cooning as far as Im concerned. They are stuck in the past it is time for us to focus on each other because we cant control what white folks or the media does.

But we do have contro over our own behavior and influence over our childrens behavior. Jesse and Al need to beg/demand the residence of Dunbar Village come forward and remove rapist from their community so she is right. Jesse and all got their priorities twisted.

  5. My dad’s a physician. He’s an internist. He has countless patients in his town. If someone ELSE gets sick and dies who my father was not aware of nor was in my father’s care, then by your logic, it shows a flaw in my fathers character.

I am a lawyer. I pride myself in being able to help young entertainers in the music game in L.A. to deal with their contractual issues for free when they cannot afford a lawyer of their own, and then I pass them on to those who do it for a fee when the record deals get into the hundreds of thousands. However, even though I do that, people in L.A. still get shafted by fly-by-night record labels. By your logic, that shows a flaw in my character.

To take this idea further, because I do not jump to the aid of people facing death row (the criminal justice system, not the label) and defend political prisoners, but instead choose to deal with musicians who have no pro bono in place for them, my priorities are wrong. I must drop everything and run to the aid of everyone like captain save ‘em. Or at the very least, I should go and make a blog about it and think I’m doing my part, keeping me free from ill repute if someone were to call my on my criticizing hypocricy.

Horrid as it is, the Dunbar situation is ONE situation. Hate to break it to you, but there are other horrible situations that occur that may call into question just how priority this Dunbar raping actually is, especially considering the two-hero theory that is at the root of this fallable criticism. If Al and Jesse are busy doing worthwhile things, then maybe we should stop blogging and go to Dunbar and be the superheroes we seem to be dilluded into thinking THEY are.

I think that would be a better avenue to take than to criticize these two for being human. Think of the criticisms people have on the character of these two. What, you’ve never been late somewhere? You’re a virgin? I’d be willing to bet all my money and everybody else’s money that you’re no angel either, but that does not mean ANYTHING with regards to what good you can do for “our people”.

mark bey: I understand this but to my way of thinking it is time to start the process of change that will eliminate at least more of those types of things from happening

Black people need to began to enact programs that prevent that kind of thing from happening, you do understand that the neighbors heard what was going on and didnt call the police dont you.

You do realize that those same people who didnt call the police are now allowing animals to roam the community their own children live in as well as other peoples children.

Also I honestly believe that Jessie and Al are both dirty, although I absolutely do support him in a lot of the things that he does. If he wanted to get money to the duke rape accuse he could have let her know through underground channels that he was going to support her no matter how the case turned out.

Although Jessie may have had noble motives for offering the money their is no doubt in my mind that Jessie was also trying to get his mug on TV. IN my opinioin for a preacher that type of shameless self promotion is unacceptable. So is the flashy pimp dressing. So I do appreciate Jessies contribution and I may support him and Al on some things but as a blogger and a free citizen I still have the right to criticize hypocrisy and besides those guys can stand the heat if they couldnt they wouldnt be in the kitchen. They put themselves up for public scrutiny and if the kitchen is to hot they can exist it anytime they get ready.

In my opinion flashy preachers who talk slick and dress like pimps and who make love children out of wedlock when we have this aids crisis in the black community going are utter clowns to me.

I seperate the activist from the preacher the good activist who takes on issues in a non self promoting way is who I support. I one hundered percent support Al going after the rap industry. But that still does not change the fact that they are corrupt and oppurtunist preachers and making love children out of wedlock during the time of aids is more than I can tolerate.

I can understand people cheating, I dont agree with, but I can understand it because I have seen it before and like you said we all are human and humans make mistakes.

But bieng a preacher (leader) and having unprotected sex out of wedlock during the time of aids is something I can never forgive. Also given the plight of the fatherless black child, married men fathering children out of wedlock is something I find reprehensible, if your a preacher I find this 1 million percent unacceptable. What if those clowns carrying on like that would have brought something home to their wives. Its cooning and it needs to stop.

If you gonna cheat strap up period and if a preacher is too ignorant to understand that not strapping up can lead to pregnacies in my opinion he should not be a preachere. Period.

The baffoonery days need to go the way of the dinosaurs.

mark bey: Brotha I aint saying that Im perfect. But a preacher by defination is supposedly called by god and annointed by him to lead the people. Preachers all claim they were called by god to preach if this is true then bieng playboy, playa, pimp whatever you wanna call it is off limits. Its bad enough for non prechers to do those things but when preachers go their they need to step down. They can still be activist however stop calling yourself a preacher.

Also I have as much right to criticize Al and Jessie as you have to critiicize this article we are both free to express our opinons. Lastly I reject the notion that I cant criiticize or disagree with someone becuase of past good or future good they may do for the community.

  8. This case sounds a lot more complicated than a reduction to “Black on Black” rape. See the posting on my blog:
    http://diaryofananxiousblackwoman.blogspot.com/2007/08/where-is-rage-speaking-of-victims.html

  9. Personally I support the woman’s day of outrage over the music industry. Thats why I put it up. I and many others want hip hop to be cleaned up and to stop degrading Black women. I think that when leaders do what we ask then we should support them and not criticize them for not doing something else. They can only do a few things at a time. I have never planned a protest but I think it would take a lot of time, manpower, and planning to get something like that done. Plus they had to contact the media. I have no criticism whatsoever about the day of outrage against the music industry or Sharpton’s efforts to divest public funds from companies who produce sexist and racist hip hop.

So although I posted this release, I am not outraged over the day of outrage. I do think that attention needs to be brought towards crimes against women but sexism and racism is important too. We don’t have to drop one in support of the other. If Sharpton didn’t have a protest and try to do something about the music industry some of us would have been pissed off too. I don’t think they can do everything at the same time. In August they had the day of outrage against the music industry, one for survivors of Hurricaine Katrina, and one against gun violence. I think thats a lot of great work all in one month! I think it would have been better to actually spread the dates out because there was not enough media attention to these events.

WHAT ABOUT OUR DAUGHTERS AND SONS???
Caribbean creeps have claimed another victim. This time it is the innocent 19 year old boy, WHO HAS NEVER BEEN IN TROUBLE, Chris Brown. Last month it was Lisa Raye. Next month it’ll probably be Kanye or John Legend who foolishly lended a hand to a caribbean creep. IF Chris had been with a nice American girl like Jordan Sparks he wouldn’t be having this trouble. WE NEED to target FOREIGN AMERICAN HATERS who commit HATE CRIMES based on GREED AND GREEN CARDS AND HAVE THEM DEPORTED.

THEY ARE THE PERPETUATORS OF 99.9% OF HATE CRIMES AGAINST AMERICAN BLACKS. THE CONGRESS NEEDS TO LABEL THESE KINDS OF PRE-MEDITATED HATE CRIMES, WHICH USE MARRIAGE AND RELATIONSHIPS AS AN INSTRUMENT TO EXECUTE HEINOUS ABUSE AND DESTRUCTION UPON BLACK AMERICANS, AS HATE CRIMES WITH SERIOUS IMPRISONMENT, AND A LESSER BURDEN OF PROOF. IT IS WORSE THAN SPOUSAL PHYSICAL ABUSE, AND JUST AS DEADLY. THE STRESS OF GOING THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THAT SHORTENS A PERSON’S LIFE BY MANY YEARS,RUINS FINANCIAL SECURITY AND HANDICAPS THE EMOTIONALLY AND SPIRITUALLY.

I KNOW MICHELLE OBAMA KNOWS MANY OF THESE STORIES, AND I AM ASKING BARACK TO LABEL THESE KINDS OF RELATIONSHIPS AS THE HATE CRIMES THEY ARE WITH SERIOUS IMPRISONMENT. ANYTIME SOME ONE IS HATING ON YOU JUST FOR BEING AN AMERICAN, IT IS A HATE CRIME. ANYTIME SOMEONE MARRIES YOU JUST TO STEAL FROM YOU IT IS A HATE CRIME. ANYTIME SOMEONE CALLS YOU A “DAMN AMERICAN” AND USES IT AS AN EXCUSE TO DESTROY YOU, IT IS A HATE CRIME. ANYTIME A CARIBBEAN TRAMP TARGETS YOUR FAMOUS SON TO USE,ABUSE, AND THEN PLOT TO DESTROY HIM BY SETTING HIM UP TO BE CHARGED WITH A CRIME, THEY NEED TO BE DEPORTED.

PLEASE JOIN ME IN WRITING THE PRESIDENT.

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/

IF AMERICANS DO NOT MAKE A SERIOUS STAND, THE 3 MILLION AFRICAN/CARIBBEAN MEN WILL TAKE OVER OUR CULTURE, AND BEFORE WE KNOW IT OUR BLACK AMERICAN CULTURE WILL BE AS HEINOUS AS AFRICAN/CARIBBEAN CULTURE.

WE MUST MAKE A STAND NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. MORE AND MORE OF OUR BLACK AMERICANS ARE BEING DESTROYED PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY. WE NEED SERIOUS LEGISLATION.

EVENTHOUGH THESE CRIMES HAPPEN TO A LARGE NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS, COLLECTIVELY THEY CLAIM MORE VICTIMS THAN THE 9/11 ATTACK. THE ILLEGAL ONES NEED TO BE DEPORTED. THE DEPT OF IMMIGRATION HAS MANY STATISTICS ON THESE MATTERS.

IS THIS THE KIND OF SICK BLACK WORLD YOU WANT YOUR DAUGHTERS AND SONS TO INHERIT???

    AIDS: The Agony of Africa
Part Five: Death and the Second Sex
Kenya — Sipewe Mhakeni used herbs from the Mugugudhu tree. After grinding the stem and leaf, she would mix just a pinch of the sand-colored powder with water, wrap it in a bit of nylon stocking, and insert it into her vagina for 10 to 15 minutes. The herbs swell the soft tissues of the vagina, make it hot, and dry it out. That made sex “very painful,” says Mhakeni. But, she adds, “Our African husbands enjoy sex with a dry vagina.”
Many women concur that dry sex, as this practice is called, hurts. Yet it is common throughout southern Africa, where the AIDS epidemic is worse than anywhere in the world. Researchers conducting a study in Zimbabwe, where Mhakeni lives, had trouble finding a control group of women who did not engage in some form of the practice. Some women dry out their vaginas with mutendo wegudo — soil with baboon urine — that they obtain from traditional healers, while others use detergents, salt, cotton, or shredded newspaper. Research shows that dry sex causes vaginal lacerations and suppresses the vagina’s natural bacteria, both of which increase the likelihood of HIV infection. And some AIDS workers believe the extra friction makes condoms tear more easily.

THE LANCET, Volume 352, Page 1292,
    October 17, 1998.
Concern voiced over “dry sex” practices in South Africa
A traditional southern African sexual practice—dry sex—aimed at pleasing men, could promote the spread of HIV-1, researchers warn. Many women in the region willingly insert herbal aphrodisiacs, household detergents, and antiseptics into their vaginas before sex, to ensure they are “hot, tight, and dry”. This is the way their men like them, they say. The agents increase friction during sex and although painful for women, they are prepared to forego their own pleasure to ensure their partners return to them.South Africa has one of the fastest growing rates of HIV-1 infection in the world, prompting Deputy Presidend Thabo Mebeki’s address to the nation on October 9, when he launched a multisectorial anti-AIDS campaign. In the live broadcast, Mbeki said that more than 3 million people are infected with HIV-1 in South Africa and 1500 people are infected each day

Black illegal aliens are doing more harm to black america than Jim Crow. Please join me and my organization in writing to the president about the below matters. We must care about the future of our children and the black community. The borders must be closed if we are to pull ourselves out of this depression.

WASHINGTON – While the military “quagmire” in Iraq was said to tip the scales of power in the U.S. midterm elections, most Americans have no idea more of their fellow citizens – men, women and children – were murdered this year by illegal aliens than the combined death toll of U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since those military campaigns began.

As unlikely as it may sound, millions of immigrants and foreign visitors are eligible for — and many are actually using — affirmative-action benefits to get a head-start on U.S.-born minorities, not to mention white Americans. In effect, they are getting off the plane and moving right to the head of the line. How is this possible? In the late 1960s, it simply never occurred to government planners that there would be so many aliens in the U.S. or that so many would be considered minorities. The results can be startling. Take, for example, a company that has a goal to hire ten blacks. Nothing says these have to be African Americans, and they well may not be. All ten may be people who until now spent their entire lives in another country.Whatever the long-term fate of affirmative action, Congress and the Administration should act now to put a stop to this bizarre extension of the program. A mere paragraph or two of legislation and a short executive order could end affirmative action for immigrants — the entitlement nobody planned and hardly anyone wants.

    Smuggling Trends in the Caribbean
I will begin by briefly describing our assessment of the drug
smuggling threat in the Caribbean. As this Committee is aware, the
Customs Service continually develops, collects and evaluates a variety
of drug intelligence from the Caribbean area. It is estimated by the
Interagency Assessment of Cocaine Movement (IACM) that approximately
43% of the cocaine destined for the United States arrives from the
    Caribbean.

    African Immigrants Affected by HIV
    By Erica Didier
“I think people need to understand that there is a large group of Africans [living here] who are positive,” said Fick. The largest African group represented among her clients is Ethiopians. She also has Somalian and Sudanese clients, as well as small numbers of people from many other East and West African countries. Currently, Africa-born Africans are not separated from African Americans for AIDS case reporting in Washington State. Fick sees this as a barrier to reaching these communities. “I think it misses a whole separate population that needs a very specific approach. One that is culturally sensitive to the extreme diversity amongst the African groups. There are so many different cultures, religions, and languages.” “A lot of the people are not here on a legal basis. Often times, as part of their immigration process they find out they’re positive and they’re very scared. They don’t know what will happen to them. If they do get kicked out of the country now, they are really in big trouble, because they have HIV and they’ll die” [because treatment is not available in their home countryAccording to the U.S. Census Bureau there are now close to one million African immigrants in the United States. The Census Bureau says more than 50 percent of them entered and settled in the country between 1990 and 2000.

In the United States, new AIDS patients are relatively more likely to be men who have sex with men (MSM); in Florida, they are relatively more likely to be female, heterosexual and black — ESPECIALLY AMONG IMMIGRANTS FROM HAITI, AND ELSEWHERE IN THE CARIBBEAN. In 2002, MSM comprised 46 percent of new US AIDS cases, but only 40 percent in Florida. New cases stemming from heterosexual sex were 11 percent in the United States for 2002, but 20 percent in Florida.
