Who could have ever thought that there is a cost of being honest. Well in this small town of Saginaw Michigan I found out the hard way. Last Year the FBI came to me about a former employer and asked me questions about his illegal activities. I answered them honestly and gave them whatever they wanted. My former employer was arrested approximately one month later after the FBI question several other witnesses and a incident had taken place that forced the feds to take him into custody before they wanted . The charges were dropped without prejudice and the feds noted they needed more time to investigate. Approximately two months later I received a lawsuit letter from my former employer stating that I had lied to the feds. I have been contacting the feds and US attorneys office during this time and they insured me that they would be calling me to testify at a Grand Jury hearing in the future. I have defended myself in court and its been a long drawn out battle which I was able to overcome a lot of questionable tactics from the plaintiffs attorneys. I have express the entire time that I am a federally protected witness and this lawsuit is illegal and is a form of harassment to deter me from testifying. I have received no help from the government because they tell me it’s a conflict to assist me when they are going to prosecute my former employer. So to sum it all up I’m a federal witness to a felony and according to the law I’m protected (by federal law) from the type of harassment that I have been subjected to. I have not received any assistance or protection the law affords to me. I cannot afford a attorney that would cost me in access of $20,000. So I’m being punished for telling the truth. Just yesterday I received a subpoena to appear before the grand jury to testify. I want to tell everyone that has ever been called to testify not to bother because if the tables turn you can be sued and the government will leave you holding the bag. Please help me tell my story to the world. People should know what being honest might cost you.
